Hailey Bieber PMDD struggles have recently been brought to light as the 29-year-old model and beauty entrepreneur opened up about battling a rare condition after welcoming her first son.
According to reports, Hailey Bieber revealed in a recent interview with U.S. media outlet WWD that she quietly struggled with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) following the birth of her son, Jack, two years ago.
Hailey welcomed her first son with husband Justin Bieber in August 2024. During the interview, she expressed regret that not enough conversation or research surrounds the condition.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) that can cause serotonin deficiency in the brain, leading to extreme mood swings and depression. Hailey shared that being open about her condition helped her feel less lonely.
She explained that just talking about it makes her feel less isolated, noting that when people understand each other and can openly discuss the pain and struggles they face, the journey becomes a little less lonely.
Following her personal confession, Hailey Bieber expressed her commitment to bringing women’s health issues to the forefront. Her close family members, including her older sister Alaia Baldwin (33), have also suffered from under-researched women’s health issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
In response, Hailey’s beauty brand ‘Rhode’ has decided to donate a total of $5 million over three years to the ‘Foundation For Women’s Health,’ a non-profit fund established to bridge the research gap in women’s health. The entire donation will be used to support women’s health research.
Previously, Hailey Bieber faced severe health crises, including a transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) caused by a cerebral blood clot in 2022, which required heart surgery. Reflecting on that time during an appearance on the podcast ‘Therapuss,’ she explained that the incident made her much more sensitive and attentive to her body, ultimately driving her obsession with medicine that led to founding her beauty brand.
Meanwhile, Hailey Bieber launched her beauty brand ‘Rhode’ in June 2022, achieving massive success before recently selling it to e.l.f. Beauty in a $1 billion deal, cementing her status as a successful businesswoman. She also recently drew major attention during her visit to South Korea with Justin Bieber.
