The Legacy of the Proud Hanyang Engineer Award
Established in 2001, the Hanyang Engineering Alumni award is presented to engineering college alumni who have significantly contributed to national and industrial development as well as social contribution activities.
Chairman Hwang entered Hanyang University’s Department of Nuclear Engineering in 1958, later earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Wayne State University. After working as a researcher at Ford Motor Company, he founded TeleVideo in Silicon Valley, listing the company on the US NASDAQ market as the first Korean-American enterprise to do so.
He subsequently served as the head of the Silicon Valley Korea-US Chamber of Commerce, a technology advisor in advanced technologies for the US President, and an advisor for Samsung Electronics in information and communications technology. Currently, he operates Zelline, a high-speed power line communication technology company.
