A large tree collapsed in Hollywood just hours after heavy rainfall, crushing and damaging two parked cars. The incident occurred on the 22nd in the parking lot of the Smart & Final store near Western Avenue and Romain Street.

Incident Details in Hollywood Parking Lot

Footage from Citizen.com showed a white Alfa Romeo Giulia suffering the most severe damage, with its roof heavily caved in. A neighboring black Mazda CX-5 was also struck by the fallen branches, though one person inside the vehicle at the time appeared to escape uninjured.

Weather Conditions and Investigation

According to reports, the fallen tree originated from the sidewalk on the opposite side of the wall separating the parking lot and the roadway. This accident occurred as a Pacific storm swept through Southern California earlier in the week, although the exact cause of the tree’s collapse remains unconfirmed. The Hollywood area received approximately 0.5 inches of rain between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
