Michigan Human Trafficking Ring Busted
A Chinese national operating an international human trafficking ring that forced Korean and Chinese women into prostitution at illicit Michigan massage parlors has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. According to Michigan prosecutors, Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Ponnce sentenced 46-year-old Jingjing Wu to 40 months to 20 years in prison on September 3.
Details of the Massage Parlor Raids
Wu operated ‘111 Healing Studio’ in St. Clair Shores and ‘AM Healing Studio’ in Sterling Heights, participating in an illicit network. The investigation began in the summer of 2024, leading to simultaneous raids in December 2024 by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Michigan State Police, and local departments across Wayne and Macomb counties. Authorities rescued 7 to 9 Korean and Chinese women during the operations.
Prosecution and Accomplice Sentences
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel stated that this was one of the largest forced prostitution operations uncovered in the state, noting that the victims were trafficked across the ocean and trapped in the local community. Wu pleaded no contest in July to operating a criminal enterprise, among six total charges filed in December 2024. An accomplice, 61-year-old Chinese national Huazi Piao, received a matching sentence of 40 months to 20 years in October of last year for running a separate illicit massage business.
