Hwang Jung-min Hope Legal Action: Film Production Takes Firm Stance Against Stalker
The production and distribution teams behind the upcoming blockbuster movie Hope have announced plans to take strong legal steps against individual ‘A’ for spreading false personal allegations regarding lead actor Hwang Jung-min.
On July 29, joint distributor Plus M Entertainment and production house Forged Films released a formal statement condemning ‘A’ for intentional business disruption and defamation targeting both the actor and the film.

Malicious Claims Exposed as Repeat Stalking Offense
The controversy erupted earlier in the morning when posts alleging an inappropriate relationship with Hwang Jung-min surfaced across social media platforms. The uploader shared screenshots of messenger conversations and call logs.
However, Hwang’s agency, SEM Company, swiftly debunked the claims, revealing that ‘A’ is a convicted stalker:
-
Legal Precedent: Courts previously issued three temporary restraining orders against ‘A’ for stalking the actor.
-
Criminal Conviction: ‘A’ was fined 3 million won ($2,200 USD) via a summary court order after being found guilty of criminal stalking.
-
Edited Evidence: The agency confirmed that the released screenshots were maliciously edited and announced additional lawsuits against the perpetrator.
Film Producers Vow Zero Tolerance for Intentional Damage
In their joint statement, Plus M Entertainment and Forged Films categorized ‘A’s actions as a targeted attack on the movie Hope during critical promotional windows.
“Individual ‘A’ has repeatedly sent maliciously edited content via email to partner companies and uploaded slanderous posts on SNS to sabotage the film’s launch,” the distributors stated. “We define this behavior as an intentional act of harm against the movie Hope and will pursue strong legal measures to protect our production.”
Production Companies’ Official Statement
The production team emphasized that ‘A’s actions harm not only the project’s commercial performance but also disrespect the hard work of hundreds of crew members and staff.
As the Hwang Jung-min Hope legal action proceeds through formal law enforcement channels, the distribution partners confirmed they are actively preparing lawsuits to prevent further damage to the film’s promotional campaign.
