OSEN DB.Group ILLIT has captured the emotional shifts born at a turning point in relationships in their brand-new album.
According to the tracklist for their 5th mini-album ‘BREAK EVEN’, unveiled by ILLIT (Yuna, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) at noon on the 28th through official SNS, the new release features a total of four tracks, including the title song ‘Arrest’ (체포하겠어), alongside ‘Super in Love’, ‘More’, and ‘Pop’.
Understanding the Concept of ILLIT BREAK EVEN
The album name ‘BREAK EVEN’ refers to the break-even point of a relationship where there are neither losses nor gains. ILLIT declares that they will no longer pour their hearts and time into relationships that do not return as much effort as they put in. Having marched forward without hiding their affectionate feelings, they now face a brand-new phase of love.
The title track ‘Arrest’ most vividly demonstrates this shift. Unlike their previous work ‘It’s Me’, which boldly proclaimed “My ultimate bias is right here!”, they now choose the end of the relationship themselves rather than falling deeper into the partner. While ILLIT’s signature honest and confident charm remains intact, their attitude toward love has become much more proactive.
Tracklist Breakdown and Bang Si-hyuk’s Participation
The tracks unfold sequentially: ‘Super in Love’ realizes that the affection was a one-sided unrequited love; ‘More’ shifts embarrassment over misunderstanding the relationship into annoyance; and ‘Arrest’ reaches the emotional climax where they resolve to cut ties. The final track, ‘Pop’, reverses the mood as they instantly fall for an unannounced new romantic interest.
Notably, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk (“hitman” bang) had his name credited across all tracks. A representative explained, “His sensory-driven production organically connects the emotional line of each song, adding persuasive power to the narrative running through the entire album.”
