Group IVE (An Yujin, Gaeul, Ray, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, Leeseo) recently heightened fans’ excitement through a unique and entertaining piece of content.
On October 20, IVE uploaded the full episode of ‘TALKS CAN KILL’ to their official YouTube channel. The video featured the members sharing their thoughts on the music video through a GV (Guest Visit / Audience Talk) format, treating the production as a standalone cinematic work.
With leader An Yujin hosting the session, producer and artist Hukky Shibaseki, along with musician Kim Ganji, joined the discussion to talk extensively about ‘Looks Can Kill.’
Before diving into the music video review, the trio shared a humorous anecdote about An Yujin rescuing a baby cat and solving a hit-and-run case before arriving on set. This naturally introduced the group’s new album worldview, portraying IVE as heroes with special abilities who are also active as singers and actresses.
After watching an unedited rough cut of the music video before the addition of CG effects, Hukky Shibaseki and Kim Ganji pointed out a scene where lightning wasn’t directly used. An Yujin wittily responded, ‘We could have, but we didn’t shoot it for safety reasons,’ bringing laughter to the room.
Kim Ganji praised the music video by noting that it captures ‘the unvarnished faces of a hero containing sorrow and joy.’ He highlighted the friendly depiction of heroes and wittily commented, ‘It has left a significant mark in film history.’ An Yujin expressed her confidence by giving it a 5-star rating with the review, ‘A top star’s top secret.’ Hukky Shibaseki sparked imagination by saying, ‘This made me want to make a movie. I want to create a spin-off of this spin-off.’
In particular, Kim Ganji focused on the addictive beat of the new song ‘Looks Can Kill,’ giving it a favorable review by stating, ‘It’s a guaranteed hit.’ Hukky Shibaseki agreed, pointing out the lyrics that utilized intense words as an impressive element.
Ahead of their album release on October 26, IVE pre-released the title track ‘Looks Can Kill’ on the 19th. The song is an electronic dance pop genre capturing IVE’s signature confidence and agency, delivering intense energy through ear-catching synth pad rhythms combined with heavy bass and dynamic drums. The final chorus, which unfolds explosively after the bridge, adds to the song’s immersive quality.
