Actress Jang Gyuri has shared her thoughts and behind-the-scenes stories on playing Hong Jae-in in the tvN drama ‘Four Hands’.

On the 4th, the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Four Hands’ (written by Shin Lee-won, directed by Park Hyun-seok, produced by Studio Dragon, Studio N, Namoo Actors) successfully concluded its 12-episode run. ‘Four Hands’ is a youth drama depicting the friendship, love, competition, and growth of young people who meet at an arts high school exclusively for music prodigies.

In the drama, Jang Gyuri delivered a passionate performance as Hong Jae-in, a viola major with exceptionally sensitive hearing. She seamlessly portrayed both the 17-year-old and 27-year-old versions of Jae-in, adjusting her gaze, tone of voice, and behavior to match the passage of time and enhance immersion.

Meeting with OSEN at the Namoo Actors office ahead of the drama’s finale, Jang Gyuri expressed her affection for the project, stating, “I believe in the power of music, so I really wanted to do a classical music drama. I liked how it was a story of youths growing through music, and since I love happy endings, I am very satisfied.”

Playing a character who acts as a warm supporter of geniuses was not always easy. Jang Gyuri confessed, “The director asked me to raise my tone significantly, and acting bright all by myself was no easy task.” She added that she worked hard to find the right balance, making sure not to overdo it while coordinating continuously with the director.

To visually convey the 10-year gap, she paid meticulous attention to styling, using cute hair accessories for her teenage years and a polished suit and watch for her twenties. Furthermore, despite the production team offering a body double for the viola scenes, Jang Gyuri insisted on learning to play herself, taking lessons for two months and receiving high praise from her actual music teacher mother.
