Former Lovelyz member and actress Jeong Ye-in Severe Trauma Center casting reports have taken the South Korean entertainment industry by storm. On the 23rd, Netflix addressed the speculation regarding Jeong Ye-in joining the cast by stating to OSEN that nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
The Success of Netflix Hit Severe Trauma Center
Severe Trauma Center follows genius surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (played by Joo Ji-hoon) as he revitalizes a struggling trauma team. Based on a hit web novel and webtoon by otolaryngologist and author Lee Nak-jun, the 8-episode Netflix series debuted in January 2025 and quickly claimed the top spot on Netflix’s global non-English TV shows chart.
Casting Change for Chun Jang-mi
Initial media reports claimed that Jeong Ye-in successfully auditioned for the role of Chun Jang-mi, a 5th-year senior nurse at the Korean University Hospital trauma team originally portrayed by actress Ha-young in Season 1. Ha-young faced a major controversy and stepped down from the project after historical records revealed her great-great-grandfather, Ahn Sung-ho, was a pro-Japanese collaborator. As the production prepares for upcoming seasons, attention is firmly fixed on whether Jeong Ye-in will step into the vacant role and how fans will react to the recast character.
