
TWICE member Jeongyeon is making her official acting debut as the hit military comedy franchise ‘New Recruit’ expands to the big screen.
On October 1, the film ‘New Recruit The Movie: Ghosts in the Military Hospital’ (directed by Min Jin-ki) released its launching poster and officially announced its theatrical release for this winter.
The movie follows the ‘New Recruit’ squad who enter a military hospital dreaming of a sweet break, only to uncover terrifying rumors and dark secrets. The project expands the universe of the hyper-realistic drama series into a feature film.
Jeongyeon joins the cast as military nurse ‘Yoo Jeong-yeon,’ marking her first-ever silver screen challenge and showcasing a completely new side of her acting abilities.
Jeongyeon recently announced her departure from JYP Entertainment after many years, subsequently signing with Baro Entertainmentβthe agency of her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeonβto pursue her acting career.
Actor Ryu Kyung-soo also joins the cast as mysterious hospitalized soldier ‘Yoo Jae-hoon,’ alongside returning fan-favorite cast members including Kim Min-ho, Nam Tae-woo, Kim Yo-han, Lee Jung-hyun, Jeon Seung-hoon, and Kim Hyun-gyu.
Director Min Jin-ki, who successfully led the popular drama series [New Recruit 4: Sabotage] to record-high viewership ratings, directed the film to deliver a unique blend of blockbuster-scale horror and comedy.
The newly released launching poster set against the backdrop of the Yangcheon Armed Forces Hospital previews a much larger scale and unpredictable storyline beyond the original boot camp setting. The film hits theaters this winter.
