The Kia Seltos and Telluride have claimed top honors in the compact and midsize SUV categories at a recent vehicle evaluation event hosted by the Texas Automotive Writers Association.
Kia America announced that the 2027 Seltos X-Line SX AWD and the 2027 Telluride X-Pro SX Prestige were named the best SUVs in their respective classes during the organization’s ‘2026 Truck Rodeo.’
The Seltos X-Line SX AWD took home the award for the compact SUV segment, while the Telluride X-Pro SX Prestige dominated the midsize SUV category.
TAWA President Marc Newman praised the vehicles, noting a strong understanding of the importance of affordable pricing, driving performance, and comfortable ride quality. He also highlighted their all-wheel-drive systems, advanced driver assistance features, and competitive fuel economy.
Additionally, the Genesis GV60 Magma received the top prize in the electric SUV category.
The annual Truck Rodeo is an evaluation event where TAWA members test and assess the real-world performance and marketability of pickup trucks, SUVs, and crossover utility vehicles (CUVs).
More than 50 automotive journalists participated in this year’s event to evaluate a total of 26 vehicles. Participants drove the models across public roads and designated off-road courses, judging them on criteria such as driving performance, ride comfort, and everyday practicality.
