[OSEN=Mokdong, Kim Chae-yeon] Actress Kim Ji-won shared her thoughts on returning to the small screen two years after ‘Queen of Tears’.
On the afternoon of the 7th, a production presentation for the new SBS Fri-Sat drama ‘Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia’ (hereinafter ‘Doctor X’) was held at the SBS building in Mokdong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Director Lee Jung-rim, along with actors Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-joo, and Kim Woo-seok, attended the event to share their thoughts.
‘Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia’ is a cider medical noir depicting the activities of Doctor X Gye Soo-jung, the ‘crazy system of the operating room’ who smashes massive absurdities with genius surgical skills that know no failure or compromise.
Kim Ji-won has returned with ‘Doctor X’ two years and six months after the conclusion of the drama ‘Queen of Tears’ in April 2024. Kim Ji-won leads SBS’s first medical noir by playing Gye Soo-jung, a genius surgeon who is obsessed only with surgery. Regarding the burden of her hiatus, Kim Ji-won confessed, “Since I am greeting everyone after a long time, even my hands are shaking slightly at this event. I am excited and nervous to greet everyone after a long time.
She continued, “During the hiatus, I was waiting while preparing what kind of image to show, and I received a good offer so I decided to do it,” adding, “I enjoyed the director’s work so much that when I heard he was participating, I first thought I wanted to trust him and go along.”
Kim Ji-won explained, “When I heard about the people I would be working with one by one, it felt so reassuring. I had a lot of ambition because I thought it would be an opportunity to learn while working with such good senior actors.”
In particular, regarding the visual differences from her previous work ‘Queen of Tears’, she stated, “I cut my hair short to show a visual change outwardly, and in the previous work, I showed a lot of flashy fashion outwardly, but in this character, I wanted to strip that away as much as possible. I approached it with that mindset.”
Meanwhile, SBS ‘Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia’ will air at 9:50 PM on Friday the 9th.
