On July 29, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced its decision not to forward the case to prosecutors, formally closing the investigation due to insufficient evidence.

The legal dispute began when the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron raised allegations claiming Kim Soo-hyun dated the late actress while she was a minor. “The decision not to forward the case is a formal conclusion by law enforcement that no crime was committed,” Attorney Ko stated. “The official stance of the investigating authority is clear: Kim Soo-hyun is entirely cleared of all allegations.”

During the investigation, key evidence submitted by the accusers—including messaging logs and audio recordings—was revealed to be manipulated:

• Forged Records: Chat logs were found to have been altered from conversations involving third parties unrelated to Kim Soo-hyun.

• AI Manipulation: Audio files alleging to feature the late actress were confirmed to be generated using AI technology.

The individual who raised the false claims was arrested in May on multiple charges, including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, stalking, and intimidation.
