Actor Kim Woo-seok delivered warm healing to the small screen with his unwavering trust and bold sense of justice in the drama ‘Doctor X’.
In episodes 3 and 4 of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia’ (hereafter ‘Doctor X’), which aired at 9:50 PM on the 16th and 17th, Kim Woo-seok took on the role of Park Tae-kyung, an intern at Guseo University Hospital, radiating responsibility and presence even amidst crisis.
In this broadcast, Park Tae-kyung stepped up first to save a cleaning worker patient who collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage. When Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) stepped up for surgery, he desperately persuaded anesthesiologist Cho Won-jin (played by Lee Jin-hee) to open the operating room, and during the tense moments when demands to stop the surgery poured in, he hijacked the observation room microphone to resolutely voice that the surgery must continue.
Kim Woo-seok solidly portrayed the desperate gaze to protect the patient’s golden time and the unwavering conviction that ‘if it’s Gye Soo-jung, she can pull it off,’ persuasively completing Park Tae-kyung’s unique, bold righteousness.
At the same time, his human side, harboring hidden worries, added depth. He delicately highlighted the heavy inner self of an intern questioning whether he can truly become a good doctor, adding authenticity to the character.
Particularly in scenes with Gye Soo-jung, he exuded perfect chemistry with puppy-like reactions and bright energy, playing the role of a ‘healing energizer’ that flexibly lightens the atmosphere of a potentially heavy medical noir genre.
Expanding his ‘large dog helper’ charm through multi-layered acting ranging from responsible conviction to warm humanity, expectations are high for the growth Kim Woo-seok will show through the character Park Tae-kyung moving forward.
