A Rose Court member of Korean descent has been selected for the final seven representing the annual New Year’s Day Rose Parade in Pasadena.
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses announced on the 28th of last month that Tessa Choi was chosen as a 2027 Rose Court member out of 28 final candidates. Choi is a 12th-grade student at La Cañada High School.
This year’s Rose Court features seven students from area schools, including Choi, Mayfield Senior School, Arcadia High School, and San Marino High School.
The Rose Court is selected through a comprehensive evaluation of academic achievement, school and community involvement, public speaking skills, and leadership. Each of the seven Rose Court members, including Choi, will receive a $7,500 scholarship.
The Rose Court will participate in various official events, including the 138th Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl Game held on January 1st of next year, representing Pasadena and Southern California.
Meanwhile, the ‘Rose Queen’, who will represent the Rose Parade among the Rose Court members, is scheduled to be announced on October 28th.
