LA Korean American associations are launching support for Korean American voter registration ahead of the upcoming November midterm election.
LA Korean American Association President Robert Ahn and representatives from six other Korean organizations held a press conference on the 29th and announced that they will be conducting a ‘Korean voter registration campaign’ from the 5th to the 19th of next month.
This campaign involves the LA Korean American Association, the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles, the Korean American Coalition (KAC), PAVA World, KYCC, Dream Tree Youth Foundation, and Help on the Go.
The campaign will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the specified period at a booth set up in front of the LED screen on the first floor of Koreatown Plaza (928 S. Western Ave.).
According to the groups, voter registration or information updates are necessary for those who have newly acquired citizenship or have changed their addresses. Voters who wish to register for Korean-language voting, mail-in ballots, or party affiliation can also complete the relevant procedures at the campaign booth.
Jeff Lee, Secretary-General of the LA Korean American Association, urged, “If you are unsure whether you are registered to vote, you may register again, so please check your voter information and complete the necessary procedures through this campaign.”
Voter registration support will also be provided at the KAC office (3727 W. 6th St. #502) during the same period.
President Robert Ahn stated, “The voter registration rate is one of the indicators that show the level of political participation in each community,” adding, “To raise the voice of the Korean American community, it is important to follow up on voter registration with actual participation in voting.”
