Korean Man Captured in Mexico Nearly Two Years After California Murder
Korean man arrested Mexico murder investigations came to a dramatic end after authorities captured a Northern California fugitive accused of killing his girlfriend and disappearing with their two young children.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that 40-year-old Camron Lee was arrested in Mexico in connection with the murder of 28-year-old Angelica Bravo.
Lee now faces charges including murder and possession of an assault weapon.
Authorities also confirmed that the couple’s two missing children — Mateo Lee, 5, and Athena Lee, 4 — were found alive alongside him. Officials said the children appeared to be in good health.
Murder Shocked Northern California Community
The case began in July 2024 when Bravo was discovered dead inside a home in northern Sacramento.
At the time, investigators realized the couple’s two children were also missing, triggering an extensive manhunt spanning multiple agencies and international borders.
Authorities soon suspected Lee had fled to Mexico with the children.
During the investigation, the Honda vehicle allegedly connected to Lee was discovered abandoned in Ensenada with no driver present.
Investigators later determined Lee had allegedly used multiple aliases, including Saroeunchea, Tae Won Lee, and Major, while evading law enforcement.
Arrest Made After New Tip
Officials said investigators received a crucial tip roughly two weeks ago, leading to a coordinated operation with Mexican authorities.
Lee was ultimately arrested May 17 in the Primo Tapia area of Baja California.
Prosecutors believe he fled to Mexico specifically to avoid prosecution in Bravo’s killing.
The Korean man arrested Mexico murder case drew widespread attention because of the missing children and the international search effort that followed.
Lee is currently being held without bail at a detention facility in San Diego on a first-degree murder charge.
For investigators and the children’s relatives, the arrest closes one chapter of a case that remained unresolved for nearly two years — though the criminal proceedings are only beginning.
