The City of Los Angeles has officially launched a comprehensive maintenance project for Koreatown trees for the first time in 13 years. This much-needed urban forestry initiative aims to revitalize the neighborhood’s streetscape and ensure public safety by addressing overgrown and aging branches that have accumulated over more than a decade.

Progress and Current Status

Out of the total 789 trees designated for this large-scale maintenance project, city crews have already successfully completed pruning on 759 trees. The remaining trees are scheduled to receive attention and have their trimming finalized by the 14th of next month, keeping the overall schedule on track for completion.

Community Impact and Expectations

Local residents and business owners have long anticipated this thorough pruning effort, as well-maintained street trees significantly enhance neighborhood aesthetics, improve sidewalk visibility, and prevent potential hazards during stormy weather. City officials expect the project to bring a refreshed and cleaner look to the bustling commercial and residential corridors of Koreatown.
