LIGHTSUM Japan Debut and 2-Year Hiatus
LIGHTSUM Japan Debut marks an exciting milestone as the six-member K-pop girl group returns as a complete ensemble after a two-year hiatus. Celebrating their 5th anniversary since debut, members Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, and Yujeong are officially expanding their musical journey into South Korea’s neighboring market with their new mini-album Re:idol. Ahead of the official release, the group dropped their sweet, relatable pre-release title track ‘γ©γγγ¦ (Doshite)’, capturing the anxiety and excitement of unrequited love.
Overcoming Challenges Through the Re:Idol Documentary
Reflecting on the grueling two-year gap since their 2024 digital single ‘POSE!’, the members opened up about overcoming psychological hurdles. Through the ABEMA original documentary Re:Idol, fans witnessed the rigorous preparation and honest struggles the group faced. Juhyeon expressed her long-awaited dream of a Japanese debut, especially with Japanese member Hina fulfilling her aspiration to release music in her native language. Sub-unit projects and individual acting ventures during the break ultimately strengthened their bond and artistic colors, paving the way for a unified and mature comeback.
Global Promotions and Future Plans
With LIGHTSUM Japan Debut underway, the group is gearing up for extensive promotions across major Japanese cities and large-scale festival stages. The 5-track mini-album Re:idol includes new songs such as ‘Fallin’ World’, ‘Stop and Go’, ‘ε€γγεγΈ’, alongside a charming ‘POSE! (Kawaii ver.)’. Leader Sangah emphasized that despite initial worries, the group’s renewed resilience and collective energy will shine through as they finally connect directly with their loyal fandom, Summit, in Japan.
