LIGHTSUM Japan Debut has officially arrived as the 6-member K-pop girl group returns as a complete lineup after a two-year hiatus to celebrate their 5th anniversary. The group—consisting of Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, and Yujeong—sat down for an exclusive interview at Cube Entertainment’s headquarters in Seoul on September 22, 2026, discussing their intense journey and brand-new mini-album ‘Re:idol’.

Ahead of their official album release on September 23, LIGHTSUM pre-released the title track ‘Doshite’ on September 16. The song beautifully captures the flutter and anxiety of a one-sided crush. Alongside the music, the group gave fans an honest look at their rigorous preparation through the ABEMA original documentary ‘Re:Idol’, highlighting their dedication and growth over the past two years.

Reflecting on Struggles and Rising Global Anticipation

Reflecting on the pre-release response, Sangah shared her initial anxieties and excitement. Despite initial worries, the limited edition physical albums sold out quickly, forcing pre-orders. She also touched upon a candid moment from their documentary regarding past earnings, noting that following the positive response to their Japanese tracks, even agency staff humorously and encouragingly remarked that they might finally see their settlement, boosting the members’ morale.

The mini-album ‘Re:idol’ features a total of five tracks, including the title song ‘Doshite’, new songs ‘Fallin’ World’, ‘Stop and Go’, ‘夜をく君へ’ (Walking the Night With You), and a kawaii version of their 2024 digital single ‘POSE!’. Member Juhyeon participated in writing the lyrics for the emotional ballad ‘夜을く君へ’, crafting a comforting message for anyone experiencing tough times.
