(G)I-DLE member Minnie has gifted fans with a special, autumn-scented love song to celebrate her birthday.
On the 23rd at 12 PM (KST), Minnie released her digital EP ‘i love you to the moon and back’ through major music streaming sites. The album holds special significance as it is her first time filling an entire tracklist in her native Thai language since her debut.
Minnie participated in the lyrics and composition for all three tracks included in the album, capturing various moments of love. The title track, ‘to the moon :)’, expresses the desire to always be with a loved one, conveying pure and sincere emotions through the lyric, ‘I’ll love you to the moon.’
The music video was shot in collaboration with Japanese model Hibiki Tomiyama, depicting the ordinary daily lives of a couple. It portrays a love that gradually deepens, likened to the moon changing from a crescent to a full moon, and leaves a lingering impression as the perspective shifts to Minnie’s point of view in the second half, revealing the sincere heart of a one-sided crush.
Returning with new music about 1 year and 9 months after her solo mini-album ‘HER’, Minnie shared her thoughts through her agency, Cube Entertainment. To commemorate the album release, she is operating a pop-up store titled ‘MINNIE ‘to the moon π POP-UP’ IN BANGKOK’ in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 23rd to the 25th, and plans to meet fans directly at the ‘MINNIE SPECIAL LIVE IN BANGKOK’ on the final day, the 25th.

The following is the Q&A with Minnie.
Q. You are releasing the digital EP ‘i love you to the moon and back’ on your birthday. How do you feel about launching an album on such a special day?
I am really happy and excited to finally share my music sung in my native Thai language with the fans. While I’ve covered many Thai songs in the past, I am excited to share songs that I worked on myself. I hope this serves as a great gift for Neverland (fandom name) who have waited for this album.
Q. What is the message behind the title track ‘to the moon :)’? Please also introduce some key listening points for the song.
It’s a song that carries the warm and honest message, ‘I love you enough to go to the moon and back.’ It features a melody imbued with my own color over my favorite synth-pop genre, making it a comfortable and enjoyable listen. For the music video, I tried to express a love that grows larger like the moon filling up.
Q. This album is once again filled with self-composed tracks. Why did you decide to write the lyrics in your native Thai, and do you have any memorable episodes from the production process?
Although I am from Thailand, I haven’t written many lyrics in Thai before, so I was a bit worried. I wanted to write the lyrics prettily and wondered how to make them sound good, but I was truly proud when they turned out so naturally. I usually love looking at the sky, so it was wonderful to be able to express stories about the moon, clouds, and night through love.
Q. The new album captures various emotions of love through ‘to the moon :)’, ‘insomnia’, and ‘(white clouds)’. Was there a reason for capturing different aspects of love in these three tracks?
I wanted to show the various faces of love. ‘to the moon :)’ contains a warm and pure heart to convey to a loved one, while ‘insomnia’ expresses the lonely emotion of sleepless nights spent thinking of someone special. And ‘(white clouds)’ is a love story about conveying longing through white clouds even when far apart. I hope those who listen can recall their own love and feel it in their own way.
Q. Compared to your first solo mini-album ‘HER’, what is the biggest musical difference in this new album?
If ‘HER’ was an album showing the various sides and colors of who I am, this digital EP feels like an album that more honestly unravels the emotions and stories of love that I feel. Musically, while ‘HER’ focused on showing my diverse sides through various genres and moods, this time I paid more attention to ensuring that the emotions embedded in the melodies and lyrics are conveyed more effectively.
Q. Do you have a word for the fans who have been waiting for Minnie’s solo music for a long time?
First, I want to say a huge thank you to the fans who waited for me. Since it’s been a long time since I greeted everyone with a solo album, I am quite excited, and I’m really looking forward to releasing a Thai album for the very first time. I worried a lot about what kind of music I should present. As much as you always wait and cheer for me, I want to repay you with great music. I will continue to share music filled with Minnie’s unique color, so please stay with me for a long time. I love you!
