Heartbreaking Incident at Shasta Lake
A Northern California tragedy unfolded at Shasta Lake when a 60-year-old man lost his life while attempting to rescue his drowning dog. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, 60-year-old Redding resident Jordan White went missing on the morning of the 11th after jumping into the water to save his pet, which had leapt from a boat.
The Rescue Attempt and Disappearance
Witnesses reported that White experienced an unexpected medical emergency or distress after entering the water. Bystanders threw a flotation device toward him, but he was unable to grab it before slipping beneath the surface near the Bailey Cove boat ramp. Fortunately, another person managed to rescue the dog.
Recovery and Safety Warnings
Later that afternoon, the sheriff’s office dive team recovered White’s body from the water. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have expressed their condolences to the grieving family and strongly urged all boaters to wear life jackets and proper flotation gear at all times.
