During the episode, Joy expressed her deep admiration for host Sung Si-kyung, playfully admitting that he ranked even higher than fellow celebrities like Park Bo-gum and Jay Park in her book. She also discussed her ongoing role as an MC on the long-running South Korean television program Animal Farm, where she has spent the past five years working alongside Shin Dong-yup.
Reflecting on Red Velvet’s 2-Year Comeback and Solo Lyricism
Turning to her music career, Joy spoke about Red Velvet’s recent full-group comeback after a two-year hiatus. She revealed the thoughts behind writing the lyrics for their title track single-handedly. “Around two years ago, it was contract renewal season. Some members stayed, while another went elsewhere. I felt a lot of anxiety back then, but whenever Red Velvet prepares for activities, fans still think of us first,” Joy shared, expressing her gratitude for the reassurance.
Finding New Confidence After Turning 30
Addressing the insecurities she faced in her late twenties, Joy candidly confessed, “When I turned 29, I was anxious. I wondered what I would do to make a living, and I was afraid people wouldn’t seek me out if I wasn’t young and pretty.” However, her mindset completely shifted once she entered her thirties. “After turning 30, everything felt okay. Now that I am 31, 29 feels like a distant worry. Turning 30 and 31 feels like becoming 1 year old again, so I am living with a renewed, youthful mindset. I am in my 30s, but I’m still a baby at heart,” she laughed, wrapping up her heartfelt appearance.
