Low-income Southern California residents who are struggling with high utility costs can now receive SCE electric bill assistance of up to $200 to help pay off past-due electricity charges.
Southern California Edison (SCE) and United Way of Greater Los Angeles announced on the 10th that they are offering one-time financial relief to low-income households through the Energy Assistance Fund (EAF). The program is designed to ease the mounting financial burden on vulnerable families facing unpaid utility balances in the region.
Direct Financial Relief for Qualifying Residents
Under the initiative, eligible SCE residential customers can receive up to $200 toward their actual past-due balance. Rather than being distributed as a cash payout, the funds are credited directly to the applicant’s SCE account. Qualifying customers can receive this assistance once every 12 months.
To qualify, households must meet specific income guidelines. For a household of four, the annual income cap is set at $66,000.
Application Process and Community Support
To apply for the relief, eligible residents must find a nearby intake agency through the United Way website and schedule an appointment by phone.
In the Los Angeles Koreatown area, the Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) is managing applications and assisting local residents with the enrollment process. Interested applicants can reserve an appointment by calling KYCC directly at 213-365-7400.
