Security Guard Detained After Confronting Burglars
A security guard arrested in Hacienda Heights faces investigation after firing a warning shot while attempting to deter suspected burglars from a residential property. The incident occurred on the 15400 block of Skyline Drive within the Skyline Estates community at approximately 9:20 PM on the 28th.
Details of the Investigation
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials questioned the guard, who claimed he fired the shot to ward off intruders breaking into a home. Surveillance footage confirmed that multiple suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle. Authorities deployed a K-9 unit to sweep the home, but no further suspects were found. Although no one was home during the incident, some household items were discovered outside, and the total value of stolen goods remains under investigation.
Status of the Guard
The LA County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the guard was taken into custody for the illegal discharge of a firearm. As of now, it is unclear if the guard remains in custody or was released. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the theft and the gunfire.
