Seventeen Jun is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of his first-ever Chinese EP, ‘9’, bringing a unique musical narrative straight to fans worldwide.
The Inspiration Behind Seventeen Jun and EP ‘9’
Set for release on September 28, the new album draws inspiration from ‘Giumyeongmyoyo’ (Nine-Sived Cat Demon), a traditional Chinese folklore legend about a cat that gains eternal life through long cultivation. The record captures a deeply personal journey of embracing unfamiliar emotions to discover his true self, with Jun actively participating in the songwriting for both the title track and b-sides to add genuine authenticity.
Musical Evolution and Ambitious Goals
Having previously showcased his exceptional artistic range through solo tracks like ‘Crow’, ‘PSYCHO’, and ‘LIMBO’, Jun weaves a wide spectrum of emotions into this new project—ranging from curiosity and excitement to jealousy, doubt, boredom, and ultimately, forgiveness.
Through Pledis Entertainment on September 27, Jun shared his thoughts: “‘9’ is an album packed with diverse new attempts. I want to show a more mature side to the fans who have watched over me, and I also have a small ambition to firmly imprint myself as ‘singer Jun’ to those encountering my music for the first time.”
