Singer Jang Yoon-jung’s Mother Arrested and Referred to Prosecution Over Investment Fraud
The mother of famous Korean trot singer Jang Yoon-jung has been arrested and referred to prosecutors on charges of investment fraud amounting to tens of millions of won.
According to police on July 21, 2026, the Seoul Songpa Police Station recently arrested and handed over Jang Yoon-jung’s mother, identified by her surname Yuk, to prosecutors under charges of fraud.
Police Tracking and Arrest After Disappearance
Police initiated an investigation after receiving a formal complaint from the victim. However, tracking Yuk proved challenging for a period as her location remained unknown.
According to law enforcement, investigators faced difficulties locating her because there were no traceable records of cell phone usage or credit card transactions.
After persistent tracking, police eventually pinpointed Yuk’s whereabouts and secured custody. A court issued an arrest warrant for Yuk last week. Following further interrogation regarding the specific details of the alleged crime, police determined that the charges were valid and formally transferred the case to the prosecution.
Allegations of Unpaid Investment Returns
Yuk is accused of taking tens of millions of won (tens of thousands of USD) from an acquaintance under the guise of an investment and subsequently failing to pay the promised financial returns.
This is not the first time Yuk’s financial disputes have made headlines, drawing renewed public attention to the singer’s family history and legal troubles.
