Stray Kids Felix Named Ambassador for 2026 Hanbok Wave

High-Fashion Cultural Diplomacy Led by K-pop Stardom

Felix, the deep-voiced and visually striking member of the chart-topping boy band Stray Kids, has been officially appointed as the promotional ambassador for this year’s “Hanbok Wave” campaign. Announced on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the annual government-backed initiative aims to rebrand and position hanbok (traditional Korean attire) as an appealing global fashion movement. Co-organized alongside the Korea Craft & Design Foundation, the cultural program is entering its seventh consecutive year. By taking on this symbolic role, Felix joins an exclusive roster of previous cultural pioneers, including Olympic figure skating legend Kim Yuna and screen icons Suzy, Kim Tae-ri, and Park Bo-gum.

A Strategic Hunt for Contemporary Hanbok Designers

The Ministry of Culture is targeting a distinct fusion of historical legacy and Gen Z streetwear aesthetics by building the upcoming collection around Felix’s signature “punk-meets-prince” personal style. Independent hanbok design houses and local clothing brands interested in joining the campaign have until July 10 to submit their applications. A total of five specialized brands will be selected to bring this cross-cultural vision to life. Each firm will be tasked with crafting 10 bespoke outfits that seamlessly blend traditional Korean tailoring silhouettes with the modern artistic identity of the Stray Kids front man.

Spreading the Aesthetic Across Global Fashion Capitals

Rather than confining the garments to domestic showrooms, the Culture Ministry is launching a highly localized international marketing drive. The custom-designed pieces will be styled into editorial photoshoots and splashed across massive digital billboards in prominent style hubs around the world, specifically New York, Paris, Milan, and Seoul.

“As K-content continues to expand its global reach, international interest in our traditional attire has never been stronger,” noted a senior policy official from the ministry. “We hope this project with Felix serves as a catalyst for establishing hanbok as a wearable, desirable piece of content for fans across North America and Europe.” This ambassadorial milestone follows a highly active month for Stray Kids, who recently commanded the stage as main headliners at The Governors Ball Music Festival 2026 in New York, and are gearing up for a historic headlining set at Brazil’s iconic Rock in Rio festival this September.
