LA Approves Megaproject: The Massive New Studio City Apartment Development Changing the Valley Skyline
Studio City is about to get a major face-lift. The LA Department of City Planning has officially greenlit “Riverwalk at Studio City,” a sprawling, multi-building Studio City apartment development that will bring over 800 new residential units and a massive wave of retail space to 12555 Ventura Boulevard. If you thought the San Fernando Valley was sleepy, think again—this project is about to supercharge the local neighborhood economy.

What’s Coming to Riverwalk at Studio City?
As first reported by Urbanize LA, this massive venture is a collaborative powerhouse project backed by Genton Property Group, RC Development, and Torino Companies. The developers aren’t playing small. The approved plans reveal a dynamic complex featuring mid-rise buildings ranging from two to seven stories.
Here is a quick look at the project by the numbers:
-
Residential Space: 814 modern apartment units.
-
Commercial Hub: Approximately 76,000 square feet of prime retail and commercial space.
-
Subterranean Parking: Four levels of underground parking designed to accommodate over 800 vehicles.
To get the project moving, the city granted several zoning incentives and density bonuses. In return, the developers have committed to setting aside 46 units exclusively for extremely low-income households, addressing LA’s critical need for affordable housing.
The Ventura Blvd Boom: A New Urban Hub
The Studio City apartment development isn’t the only transformation hitting the area. In fact, Ventura Boulevard is quickly becoming LA’s newest hotspot for luxury mixed-use living.
Just west of the Riverwalk site, the iconic Sportsmen’s Lodge property is slated for a massive redevelopment that will introduce a 520-unit residential and commercial complex. Meanwhile, directly across the street from Riverwalk, even more mixed-use retail and residential projects are currently in the pipeline.
The Bottom Line
For locals and prospective renters, this means more walkable dining, shopping, and living options right along the river. While construction timelines are still unfolding, one thing is certain: Studio City is officially entering a new era of urban sophistication.
