Tesla CEO Elon Musk celebrated on November 5 (local time) as Tesla Korea maintained its position as the top-selling brand in South Korea’s import car market for the ninth consecutive month, sharing a photo featuring the Tesla ‘T’ logo embedded within the South Korean national flag.

Musk retweeted a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account featuring the caption ‘Tesla Korea’ along with the modified graphic.

The original post, written by another X user, stated that Tesla surpassed Mercedes-Benz and BMW to retain the No. 1 spot in South Korea’s import car market, noting that October registrations surged 110.7% year-on-year to 9,165 units.

The attached image showed a synthesized graphic of the waving South Korean flag with the Tesla ‘T’ logo placed directly in the center of the traditional Taegeuk circle.

According to data from the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), Tesla accounted for 29.5% of total imported car registrations in October, securing the top spot. However, October registrations dropped by 3,207 units (25.9%) compared to the previous month’s 12,372 units.

This marks the first time since February that Tesla’s monthly registrations in the country have fallen below the 10,000 mark.

Back in June, when the Tesla Model Y became the best-selling passenger car in South Korea for the month, Musk shared the news on X and remarked, ‘Korea is awesome.’
