Group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) member TXT Subin and singer Han Roro recently shared their quirky 3-year friendship, revealing that despite being close, they still struggle to drop formal speech.
On the YouTube channel ‘Zip Daesung’, an episode titled ’00-liners sliding with slime and having a chaotic day | Empty House Daesung ep.4 Han Roro’ was released.
During the episode, Subin shared his thoughts on filming with Han Roro, offering witty remarks right from the start. Subin confessed, “As soon as I saw Han Roro’s name on the guest list, I felt filled with anxiety.” He added, “She is kind and a good friend, but she’s not funny,” which caught Han Roro off guard.
Despite the teasing, Subin showed special interest in her. He mentioned, “Almost all the YouTube videos I watch feature Han Roro,” noting that she frequently appears in his recommendation algorithm. In response, Han Roro explained why she decided to appear, saying, “Since we are close, I thought I could be comfortable. I only came out because it was Subin.”
The two also opened up about their first impressions of each other. Subin recalled, “When I first saw her, she was having a normal conversation while sounding like she was writing literature.” He expressed admiration for her unique expression and vocabulary as peers of the same age. Han Roro explained her personality by saying, “I’m the type to talk more the closer I get. Once we get close, the fun stuff comes out.”
As they played games together, the two discussed whether they should start using informal speech (banmal), given that they are the same age and wanted a more comfortable conversation.
However, their attempt at informal speech was short-lived, and they quickly reverted to polite, formal speech (jondaetmal), causing laughter. Subin ultimately admitted to his habit, saying, “I have a disease where I have to use formal speech.” He tried to smooth over the awkward situation by suggesting, “Let’s just stick to one, either formal or informal.”
Despite the slip-ups, they bonded over shared childhood memories. Subin expressed satisfaction, stating, “At least we speak the same language since we’re peers.” Though they are 3-year friends who know each other’s music and personalities well, their amusing struggle to seamlessly blend formal and informal speech brought a unique charm to the show.
