United Airlines is facing heavy backlash after a female passenger reported a man for committing an obscene act next to her, only to be forced by flight attendants to return to her seat beside him before landing. According to NBC News reports, the incident occurred on a morning flight traveling from Rochester, New York, to Newark, New Jersey. The female passenger noticed the man next to her masturbating and immediately fled to alert the flight crew. She spent the majority of the flight standing due to the distress.
Flight Attendants Ignored Safety Concerns and Left Suspect Unpunished
As the aircraft prepared for landing, crew members instructed the woman to return to her assigned seat, claiming no other empty seats were available despite her repeated protests. She was told she only needed to sit for about five minutes, but due to being seated at the rear of the plane, she remained trapped next to the offender while passengers deplaned. Upon arrival, no police or airline staff were waiting, and the suspect simply walked away. When the passenger complained, a gate agent dismissively asked what they expected him to do. United Airlines later offered a meager $100 credit for a $400 ticket and issued an email referring to the crime as merely ‘concerning behavior,’ sparking widespread outrage.
