Kevin Kim and Bonnie Lee recognized
in LABJ’s “LA500” for second consecutive year
Kevin S. Kim(left), chairman and chief executive of Bank of Hope, and Bonnie Lee, president and chief executive of Hanmi Bank, have been named among Los Angeles’ most influential figures in finance by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
The publication said both executives have played key leadership roles in strengthening and expanding Korean American banking institutions while helping support economic development in the broader community.
As part of its 2026 “LA500” list, which recognizes 500 influential leaders across multiple industries based on industry nominations and editorial review, the journal included Kim and Lee among the 50 most influential people in banking and finance in Los Angeles. Both executives were also recognized in the same category in 2025.
The publication highlighted Kim’s leadership in transforming Hope Bancorp into one of California’s leading financial institutions through a series of strategic mergers and acquisitions. Under his leadership, the bank expanded significantly in size and market presence.
Lee was recognized for becoming the first woman to lead Hanmi Bank and for overseeing substantial growth at the institution. The publication noted that Hanmi’s total assets have increased by roughly 30% during her tenure.
The journal also praised both executives for emphasizing community engagement and economic development while leading their respective banks.
