Cold Comfort: Amazon Heated Blanket Recall Issued Over Fire and Shock Risks
If you’ve been snuggling up with a hot deal from Amazon lately, you might want to double-check the label. An urgent Amazon heated blanket recall has been issued for roughly 178,000 electric throws after safety regulators discovered they could short-circuit, catch fire, or deliver a nasty electric shock.

Why the Popular OCTROT Throws are Being Pulled
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has ordered an immediate stop-use warning for electric blankets and throws sold under the OCTROT brand. The underlying issue? The power cord can detach from the blanket main unit while in use, leading to exposed wiring, melting, and potential blazes.
The numbers are alarming: CPSC has already received 555 reports of the blankets melting, sparking, or smoking. Among those, 27 led to actual fires, and 15 injuries—including burns and electric shocks—have been reported so far.
Is Your Blanket Affected? Check the Model Numbers
The recalled blankets were sold exclusively on Amazon between August 2021 and December 2025, retailing for between $40 and $60. Check your tag or order history for the following affected model numbers:

How to Snip the Cord and Get Your Full Refund
If you own one of these models, unplug it immediately. To receive a full refund, you don’t even need to ship the item back. OCTROT requires consumers to cut the power cord off the unplugged blanket and email a photo showing the severed cord clearly attached to the product tag at OctrotRecall@outlook.com.
For further questions, consumers can reach out directly via the OCTROT customer service line at (800) 928-1807. Stay warm, stay safe, and cut those cords!
