Samsung Electro-Mechanics MLCC Record AI Deal
Samsung Electro-Mechanics MLCC components are driving massive growth as the South Korean tech giant announced a landmark $775 million (approx. 1.07 trillion KRW) supply contract with a global AI semiconductor company. This milestone agreement, set to run throughout 2027, marks the company’s largest single MLCC contract in history, accounting for 9.5% of its total consolidated revenue from the previous year. MLCCs act as essential mini-dams for electric current, ensuring stable voltage and preventing device malfunctions during high-power AI operations.
Expanding South Korea AI Hardware Leadership
In addition to this record-breaking contract, South Korea-based Samsung Electro-Mechanics has secured long-term agreements with roughly 10 global tech companies. The company recently finalized multiple high-value supply deals, including a $1.13 billion silicon capacitor contract earlier in the year, signaling a major shift toward long-term, large-scale orders in the AI server passive components market. Alongside MLCCs, the company’s FC-BGA semiconductor substrate business is experiencing explosive growth, with operating profits surging 237% in the first half of the year.
Massive Production Investments Through 2040
To meet surging global demand for AI infrastructure, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is aggressively expanding its manufacturing capabilities. The company plans to invest a total of 25 trillion KRW globally through 2040 to scale up its FC-BGA and MLCC production lines across domestic hubs in Sejong and Busan, alongside a $1.2 billion expansion at its Vietnam production subsidiary. These strategic investments aim to solidify South Korea’s leadership in the rapidly expanding global artificial intelligence hardware market.
