Hyundai Unveils the All-New Tucson in New York

Hyundai unveiled the 5th-generation model of its compact SUV, the Hyundai Tucson, to the global market by hosting the ‘The All-New Tucson World Premiere’ event in New York on the 1st (local time). The vehicle was previously revealed in Korea on the 18th of last month.

Global Success and Powertrain Strategy

First launched in 2004, the Tucson became the first domestic SUV to surpass 10 million cumulative global sales. JosΓ© MuΓ±oz, CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated at the world premiere, β€œMillions of families around the world trust and choose the Tucson,” adding, β€œThe newly launched Tucson is the best of all Tucsons ever.”

Hyundai has differentiated the Tucson’s powertrains and trims by continent. In Korea, it is launched with two powertrains: a 1.6 turbo gasoline and a hybrid. In North America, the all-wheel drive (AWD) ‘XRT Pro’ trim, which enhances off-road performance, is added. The European exclusive model will be unveiled at the ‘Paris Motor Show’ held in France on the 12th.

Future Plans and Market Launch

CEO MuΓ±oz revealed plans to expand market share by stating, β€œBy 2030, we will launch over 100 new cars and facelift models globally, and 58 new cars will be launched in North America alone.” Hyundai plans to reveal the domestic sales price of the Tucson this month and begin full-scale sales.
