The LA Zoo Lights, the Los Angeles Zoo’s signature holiday event, has begun early bird discount ticket sales ahead of its November opening.

This year’s event will run on selected dates from November 20 to January 10 of next year.

Tickets and event schedules can be found on the LA Zoo website.

During the event, large illuminated displays depicting plants, butterflies, birds, insects, and marine life will be installed throughout the zoo. Recreations of Ice Age megafauna will also be featured. Colorful LED lights, video projection mapping, and custom lanterns will express the past and present of nature.

In particular, a new artificial ice skating rink will be set up at the Keenan Plaza this year. Visitors can also take photos inside a giant snow globe or meet Santa Claus.

The venue will feature carol performances along with various foods such as churros, hot chocolate, and DIY s’mores. For adults 21 and older, beer, wine, and alcoholic hot chocolate will also be sold.

Advance discounted admission is $25 for general adults and $15 for children ages 2 to 12. Zoo members can purchase tickets for $15 for adults and $10 for children. Admission is free for children under 2. However, a separate ticket is required to use the ice skating rink.
