Big Bang former member and singer-actor TOP (Choi Seung-hyun) and After School former member and actress Nana recently went public with their relationship, leading to the ultimate cancellation of an upcoming fan exhibition.
Fan Exhibition Cancelled Amid Cancellation Surge
On the 4th, the official account of TOP’s fan page ‘CHOIDOT’ uploaded a notice regarding the cancellation of the ‘OFF GRID : NEW GROUND’ exhibition and ticket refund details. The fan page explained that they had downscaled the event to accommodate 300 attendees over two days, considering various circumstances and ongoing tour schedules. However, after reservations opened, actual applications only reached about 25% of the expected scale. Although they intended to proceed despite potential losses to keep their promise, a continuous wave of cancellations from existing bookers reduced expected participants to just 10-15%. Consequently, they had to make the difficult decision to cancel.
The Impact of TOP and Nana’s Public Romance
The first photo exhibition was originally scheduled for October 31 and November 1, inspired by TOP’s first solo album ‘ANOTHER DIMENSION’. However, with less than a month left before the event, half of the remaining reservation holders canceled, coinciding directly with the timing of TOP’s public romance announcement. TOP officially revealed his relationship with Nana on the 2nd. Nana previously appeared in the music video for the title track ‘DOOM DADA’ (or ‘Totally Crazy!’) from TOP’s first full-length album ‘ANOTHER DIMENSION’, which brought them close and eventually led to a romantic relationship in June. While both sides quickly acknowledged the relationship, some negative reactions among certain fans appear to have heavily impacted the fan exhibition’s success.
