Group ILLIT has achieved another major milestone on the global music platform Spotify with their signature hit ILLIT Magnetic.
According to Spotify on the 20th, the title track ‘Magnetic’ from ILLIT’s (Yuna, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, Iroha) 1st mini-album ‘SUPER REAL ME’ surpassed 900,351,494 cumulative streams as of the 18th. This sets a new record for the fastest K-pop group debut song to reach 900 million streams on the platform.
Released in March 2024, ‘Magnetic’ is a dance track combining Pluggnb and House genres. It sparked a worldwide challenge craze with its witty lyrics comparing the feeling of being drawn to someone you like to a magnet, paired with a finger-point choreography.
Right after its release, it became the first and fastest K-pop debut song to simultaneously enter the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’ and the UK Official ‘Singles Top 100’, while also sweeping the top spots on major domestic music charts. Even about two years and seven months after its release, it continues to rank high on domestic and international charts, proving its formidable streaming power.
Certification races from major global music associations are also ongoing. ‘Magnetic’ recently earned a ‘Silver’ certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Previously, it received a ‘Triple Platinum’ certification in the streaming category from the Recording Industry Association of Japan after surpassing 300 million cumulative streams. This is the fastest record ever achieved by a song from a foreign female artist.
Demonstrating explosive momentum with this new milestone, ILLIT is gearing up for their full-fledged comeback by releasing their 5th mini-album ‘BREAK EVEN’ on the 26th. The title track ‘Arrest Me’ is an electro-pop genre featuring a cheerful whistle sound, boasting addictive charm and an exciting beat.
Notably, ILLIT recently surprised fans by previewing the performance of their new song ‘Arrest Me’ during the encore tour ‘ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS STARTβ₯’ ENCORE in KOREA’ held at Incheon Inspire Arena, drawing enthusiastic cheers with their disciplined and addictive whistle-utilizing choreography.
Global music fans’ expectations are soaring for ILLIT’s continued mainstream momentum with their new release ‘BREAK EVEN’ as they continue to prove their worldwide music power.
