Broadcaster Yoo Jae-suk recently addressed the sudden health issue that forced him to cancel a scheduled show recording, offering sincere apologies and deep bows to everyone affected.
During the SBS entertainment program ‘When You Have Time,’ featuring guest appearances by actors Chae Soo-bin and Shin Seung-ho, Yoo opened up about the recording cancellation controversy.
As soon as the guests arrived, Yoo immediately expressed his deep apologies. The previous recording for the show had to be canceled on the day of filming due to Yoo’s sudden cold, body aches, and high fever.
Recalling the incident, Yoo shared, ‘I was indeed sick, but the news reports blew it way out of proportion.’ He clarified, ‘Reports claimed that I collapsed for the first time in 36 years, but that is simply not true.’ He explained that his throat was severely swollen, leading him to fear it might be COVID-19, which made filming impossible. While his health scare caused widespread concern, he strongly emphasized that he never actually collapsed.
Yoo added, ‘Fortunately, the symptoms subsided right away after getting an injection. I immediately asked the production team if we could shoot in the afternoon, but they said no.’ He continued, ‘I was feeling well enough by then, and I am deeply sorry for causing concern.’ Having recovered his health, Yoo bowed 90 degrees multiple times in front of the camera to express his sincere remorse.
Yoo also expressed immense gratitude to the guests who adjusted their busy schedules to return for the rescheduled filming. Mentioning Shin Seung-ho’s upcoming overseas schedule in Morocco, Yoo praised his dedication and made witty remarks about Shin’s agency, King Kong by Starship, noting its surging momentum and active fan communication.
Meanwhile, fellow cast member Yoo Yeon-seok caught attention with a drastically shortened hairstyle. Joking that he cut his hair out of shock upon hearing that his ‘older brother’ was sick, Yeon-seok drew laughter from Yoo Jae-suk. Chae Soo-bin added to the playful mood by comparing Yeon-seok’s new look to a puppy on its first day of grooming, while Yoo Jae-suk chimed in by calling him a ‘general,’ filling the set with laughter.
Despite the initial scare caused by his sudden health issue and the resulting cancellation, Yoo Jae-suk returned in glowing health, thoroughly explaining the situation and offering repeated apologies and gratitude to the guests and staff who rearranged their schedules for him.
