Dave Min has successfully secured his re-election in California’s 47th congressional district, leading his Republican opponent by about 13 percentage points with 69% of the votes counted as of 10 AM. Min released an early statement expressing his gratitude to local voters.

Meanwhile, Young Kim, running for her fourth term as the first Korean American woman in Congress, is facing a tough battle in her 40th district. With 42% of the vote counted, she trails Republican Ken Calvert by 9 percentage points. Observers are watching closely to see if she can close the gap in remaining counts.

In the California Insurance Commissioner race, Jane Kim leads Senator Ben Allen by 4 percentage points. In District 66 of the state assembly, Paul Seo is projected to secure a seat, leading Sarah Dean by 24 percentage points in a tight Democratic race.

Local municipal races also showed significant competition. In Irvine City Council District 1, John Park leads the polls, while Yong Choi and Daniel Kim faced defeats in Buena Park and Fullerton respectively. Steve Lee is locked in a razor-thin race in Arcadia, and Andrew Kim is projected to win a seat in La Palma.

Educational board races also saw promising leads for Korean American candidates, including Jeff Kim in the Irvine Unified School District and Amy Choi-Won in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, alongside strong showings in other regional contests.
