BTS Bogota honorary guest title has officially been awarded to the global K-pop group, marking a momentous recognition in the city after 10 years.

BTS Named Honorary Guest in Bogota

On October 2 (local time), BigHit Music announced that Bogota, Colombia, officially designated BTS as “Honorary Guests (HuΓ©sped de Honor)” through “Decree 413 of 2026” on September 30. This special designation was made in conjunction with the group’s concerts held on October 2-3.

Bogota Mayor Carlos Fernando GalΓ‘n stated, “BTS is much more than just a band. We want those attending the concerts and visiting Bogota to experience the city itself. Bogota recognizes that the visit of BTS is a special event for the city and welcomes them as our honorary guests.”

Significance of the 10-Year Milestone

The title of honorary guest is an honor bestowed by the mayor of Bogota to distinguished visitors who have contributed to citizen welfare or urban development in fields such as politics, public service, arts, sports, science, and education. This designation marks the first time in about 10 years that it has been awarded to artists.

Bogota officials highlighted that since their debut in 2013, BTS has contributed to raising the international status of Korean music and culture while exerting a profound influence on the younger generation.

Economic Impact and South American Tour

BTS is kicking off their South American tour in Bogota on October 2-3. This marks the first time the group is holding a full-group concert in Colombia, which is projected to generate significant ripple effects for Bogota’s economy and tourism.

The Observatory of Tourism under the Bogota Tourism Institute estimates that tourists attending the two BTS concerts will spend over 99 billion Colombian pesos (approximately $40.6 billion KRW) on food and beverages, lodging, local transportation, shopping, and souvenirs.

Following Bogota, BTS will meet local fans in Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
