[OSEN=Jang Woo-young] BTS member BTS j-hope has added another 100-million-view music video, marking his fourth in total.
According to Big Hit Music on the 31st, the YouTube view count for j-hope’s digital single ‘MONA LISA’, released in March of last year, surpassed 100 million around 5:50 AM that day.
This follows his previous 100-million-view music videos ‘Daydream’, ‘Chicken Noodle Soup (feat. Becky G)’, and ‘Killin’ It Girl (Solo Version)(Choreography ver.)’.
The video features j-hope delivering hip and chill performances against the backdrop of a modern art museum. The white and minimalist spatial direction makes his delicate dance lines and expressiveness stand out even more. In addition, camera work following dazzling steps and sensational lighting enhancing the song’s vibe provide visual enjoyment. The ending, which evokes the image of a painter focusing with a pencil before sketching, also leaves a deep impression.
‘MONA LISA’ is a hip-hop R&B genre song that playfully depicts the situation of having one’s heart stolen by an attractive partner. Groovy rhythms, funky chords, and refreshing sounds harmonize together. In particular, the chorus appearing in the latter half adds an exciting atmosphere. The partner’s charm is cleverly compared to Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece ‘Mona Lisa’.
‘MONA LISA’, which swept global charts and showed its strong presence upon release, landed at No. 65 on the US Billboard main song chart ‘Hot 100’, No. 27 on Spotify’s global audio and music streaming platform ‘Weekly Top Song Global’, and No. 56 on the UK Official ‘Single Top 100’.
