A Garden Grove crash involving an SUV that slammed into a utility pole left one person dead and another in critical condition.
According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the accident occurred around 2:55 a.m. on the 26th near the intersection of Knott Street and Acacia Avenue.
Police stated that a white Toyota Highlander struck a utility pole, resulting in a fire. When officers arrived, both the driver and the passenger were unconscious.
Responding officers rescued the driver and passenger from the vehicle and administered emergency aid, but the female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to UCI Medical Center in critical condition.
Specific identities, including the names and ages of the driver and passenger, have not been released.
Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.
