Actors Go Soo and Kim Hee-sun are reuniting as a married couple for the first time in 23 years since their appearance in ‘My Fair Lady.’
The Wife: A Tale of Desire and Secrets
According to OSEN reports on the 20th, Go Soo and Kim Hee-sun have been cast in the new MBC drama ‘The Wife.’ Production is currently underway with a target broadcast schedule in June of next year.
‘The Wife’ depicts the tragic portrait and atonement of a woman who falls into an ugly, hellish abyss while desperately trying to keep a secret, portraying the raw nature of desire and love surrounding a single woman. Written by writer Jung Ryeo-ju, the project won the excellence award in the 2022 KBS TV Drama Miniseries Script Competition. Kim Hee-sun and Go Soo will star as a married couple, reuniting 23 years after SBS’s ‘My Fair Lady’ ended in 2003.
Anticipation Builds for Their On-Screen Chemistry
Expectation is high to see what kind of acting and chemistry the two stars, who previously paired up in ‘My Fair Lady,’ will showcase as a married couple after two decades apart.
Kim Hee-sun starred in TV Chosun’s ‘There Is No Next Life’ last year, and this marks her return to MBC two years after ‘Our House.’ Meanwhile, Go Soo made a strong impression with a special appearance in the film ‘The Colony’ this year and parted ways with BH Entertainment, his agency of 15 years, to embark on a fresh start.
A Long Journey to Production
Meanwhile, ‘The Wife’ was originally planned for production as a KBS2 miniseries in 2023. However, after the KBS programming fell through, it moved to SBS, where it also failed to secure a broadcast schedule. After navigating these hurdles over three years, production is now moving forward with MBC. The production company is Samhwa Networks, known for hit series such as ‘Dr. Romantic.’
