Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, are facing severe backlash after video footage surfaced showing an ICE agent pointing a gun at a resident who was walking their dog near an immigration enforcement scene.
The video also captures agents aggressively subduing and dragging a handcuffed man to a vehicle, escalating public criticism. According to ABC7 on the 30th of last month, the incident occurred in front of the ‘Ivy at NoHo’ apartment complex on Ochoco Street in North Hollywood.
The released footage shows three masked ICE agents lifting the arms and legs of a handcuffed man and carrying him toward a vehicle. The man can be heard crying out in pain during the process.
The detained individual was identified as Angel Luis Gonzalez-Robo (27), a native of Venezuela. His family stated that they were not informed of the reason for his arrest.
Notably, the video also captures an ICE agent pointing a firearm at a resident walking two dogs near the enforcement area and shoving them toward the bushes.
According to witnesses, the resident had briefly picked up an object lying on the sidewalkโbelieved to be pepper sprayโand immediately dropped it when the agents approached. However, a witness stated that one of the agents pulled out a gun, pointed it at the resident’s face, and pushed them toward the bushes.
Damary Butler, the resident who filmed the scene, told ABC7, ‘When I saw the ICE agent pointing a gun at the resident’s face, I thought in that moment someone could lose their life.’
As the video spread, political figures in Los Angeles voiced strong criticism of the action.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated, ‘This is completely unacceptable,’ adding that she is in discussions with the California Attorney General’s office to investigate federal agents for potential misconduct and hold them accountable.
