Girl group ILLIT has captured the hearts of global fans by releasing a quirky yet lovely new music video.
On the 26th at 6 p.m., ILLIT unveiled the music video for their title track ‘Arrest Me’ from their 5th mini-album ‘BREAK EVEN’ through the official HYBE Labels YouTube channel.
The music video playfully depicts the members transforming into ‘black agents’ who track down a mysterious figure that shook their hearts and suddenly vanished. Despite lacking information about their target, the members show unstoppable determination and wit as they pursue the suspect. Actor Song Kang made a surprise appearance as a core character, adding unexpected fun to the storyline.
The members’ unique styling also grabs attention. ILLIT showcased a variety of visual transformations ranging from charismatic special agent outfits for their undercover mission, to a detective-inspired look reinterpreted with their own sensibility, and character-driven attire. These concept-driven styles heightened the viewing pleasure of the music video.
The choreography further amplified the bold charm of the song. ILLIT caught the eye with witty point choreography, such as chasing a fleeing opponent while blowing a whistle or forming hand signs shaped like guns to signal an arrest. The knife-sharp synchronized choreography, executed flawlessly to the intense beat, maximized the song’s energy and delivered thrilling visual satisfaction.
The title track ‘Arrest Me’ is an electro-pop genre song that delivers a bold warning after mistaking a target’s habitual friendliness for romantic interest. The lyrics, reminiscent of ‘crime signs,’ contain an ongoing narrative linked to ILLIT’s previous works, adding fun to discovering hidden storylines throughout the track. The cheerful whistle sound and an addictive hook that is easy to remember upon a single listen further enhance the song’s charm.
Along with the new release, attention is focused on ILLIT’s upcoming broadcast activities. They are scheduled to perform ‘Arrest Me’ for the first time on KBS 2TV’s ‘Music Bank’ on the 30th. Wonhee will appear as a daily weather caster on JTBC’s ‘Morning&’, while Yoona and Wonhee will visit tvN’s ‘Amazing Saturday’ to show off their unique charms. Additionally, they plan to continue active promotions by appearing on various broadcast programs such as Mnet’s ‘Hide and Seek 2’.
