Jang Won-young, a member of the group IVE, recently responded to a viral piece of internet slang associated with her name. On October 23, the YouTube channel ‘Today’s Joo Woo-jae’ uploaded a video featuring Jang Won-young as a special guest, titled ‘Joo Woo-jae Gets Schooled by Dessert Master Jang Won-young | Jang Won-young Guest Appearance, Dessert Mukbang, Looks Can Kill.’

During the episode, the production team asked Joo Woo-jae and Jang Won-young if they knew the meaning of the phrase ‘Jang Won-young-da’ (meaning ‘It’s Jang Won-young-like’). Jang Won-young showed that she was already familiar with the term and playfully asked Joo Woo-jae if he knew what it meant. When Joo Woo-jae admitted that he had seen it somewhere but could not recall the exact definition, Jang Won-young pointed at a dessert and quipped, ‘This is totally a Jang Won-young dessert.’

As Joo Woo-jae still struggled to figure it out, Jang Won-young dropped another hint by asking, ‘Do you know the word bamti?’ Joo Woo-jae responded that he knew ‘bamti’ and correctly guessed that ‘Jang Won-young-da’ must be a positive expression.

Explaining the slangβ€”which serves as the polar opposite of ‘bamti,’ a derogatory term used to describe someone looking unfashionable or unattractiveβ€”Jang Won-young shared with a laugh, ‘I didn’t know it either, but my acquaintances told me about it. They suggested I search for the opposite of bamti on Google.’

Meanwhile, IVE recently participated in the Spotify ‘DIVE ACADEMY’ special performance and is gearing up for the release of their new EP ‘Looks Can Kill’ on October 26.
