Actors Joo Jong-hyuk, Park Yu-rim, Seo Su-bin, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Da-bin will portray youthful stories encompassing love, friendship, and growing pains through the KBS Drama Special 2026 project titled ‘Sound: Track’.
Scheduled to premiere on November 18 at 9:50 PM, KBS Drama Special 2026 ‘Sound: Track’ is a project consisting of eight independent stories that explore moments of love, farewells, and growth using ‘that song’ that everyone has encountered at least once in their lives as a medium. Continuing the 42-year tradition of KBS single-act dramas, each production delivers a special lingering emotion through distinct subjects and sensitivities.
Following the earlier announcement of castings for the first two works, the third work ‘Sound: Track – When My Loneliness Calls You’ (directed by Kim Kyu-hyun, written by Lee Seul-bi) and the fourth work ‘Sound: Track – Bye, Summer’ (directed by Bae Soo-kyung, written by Choi Yi-kyung) have revealed the addition of Joo Jong-hyuk, Park Yu-rim, Seo Su-bin, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Da-bin. They are expected to depict different faces of youth, focusing on distinct relationships and emotions ranging from loneliness faced in front of love to the growth that finally begins at the end of a long-standing friendship.
When My Loneliness Calls You: A Delicate Tale of Unrequited Love
‘When My Loneliness Calls You’ tells the story of a woman who develops a one-sided crush on a man, discovers the loneliness hidden behind his friendliness, and quietly approaches him. Joo Jong-hyuk and Park Yu-rim star as a man and woman harboring their respective scars and emptiness, delivering delicate emotional performances.
Joo Jong-hyuk plays Kang Jin-woo, a character who is quiet and affectionate on the outside but harbors hidden voids and sorrow on the inside that he cannot easily reveal. As he grows closer to Park So-jung, subtle changes begin to stir his long-dormant emotions. Joo Jong-hyuk is set to lead the emotional flow of the drama by delicately expressing the complex inner world of Kang Jin-woo, whose affectionate facade conceals deep scars.
Park Yu-rim takes on the role of Park So-jung, who is taciturn and calm yet honest about her feelings. Drawn to Kang Jin-woo’s warmth, Park So-jung faces her own desires and wounds as her feelings for him deepen. She is a character who yearns for love while refusing to unduly lower herself to attain it. Park Yu-rim meticulously portrays Park So-jung’s complex emotions of wavering before love while striving to protect her own heart and self-esteem, creating an affectionate chemistry with Joo Jong-hyuk.
Bye, Summer: Navigating the Shifting Bonds of Youth
The fourth work, ‘Bye, Summer’, is a story about friends who spent a passionate summer sharing the same dream, and a girl who dreamed of eternal friendship who finally welcomes a new season on her own after bidding farewell to a faded relationship. Seo Su-bin, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Da-bin portray three friends who started at the same starting line but made different choices as time passed, depicting the transformations of youth.
Seo Su-bin plays Lee Han-gyul, an obscure actor centered around short films. He began dreaming of becoming an actor during his introverted school days when a performance assessment video made with friends gained popularity. However, as the passion of the friends walking the same path gradually cools and cracks appear in their relationship, he struggles to maintain their friendship no matter what. Seo Su-bin is expected to realistically portray the growing pains of youth by delicately unraveling Lee Han-gyul’s complex psychology as he conflicts between dreams and friendship.
Han Ye-ji appears as Kim Hyun, who once dreamed of becoming a film director but ultimately chose reality. Although she nurtured director dreams when her school days’ video creation drew attention, she hit the wall of reality and selected an office worker’s life. Familiar with a stable routine, Kim Hyun no longer welcomes the worries and complaints of friends who still chase their dreams. Although she realizes at some point that her dreams have completely drifted away, she does not attempt to return to the past. Han Ye-ji will convincingly express the transformation of adult Kim Hyun, who has moved past a burning youth to step into reality, drawing empathy from viewers.
Jung Da-bin plays Hong Su-bin, who began dreaming the dream of film following Lee Han-gyul and Kim Hyun. Having walked the same path as her friends without a clear goal, she currently works as an influencer, making romance and marriage her primary life goals. With an affectionate and sociable personality, she gets along well with people around her, but the relationships carrying special meaning for Hong Su-bin extend beyond just her friendship with Lee Han-gyul and Kim Hyun. Through Hong Su-bin, who possesses her own values and direction in life, Jung Da-bin aims to reveal the subtle temperature differences of emotions flowing among the three friends.
Anticipation for KBS Drama Special 2026
As such, ‘When My Loneliness Calls You’ and ‘Bye, Summer’ look into moments of loneliness and growth through the relationships of love and friendship, respectively. While Joo Jong-hyuk and Park Yu-rim portray the affectionate emotions of two individuals approaching each other’s loneliness, Seo Su-bin, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Da-bin showcase the transformations of three friends who move past days of shared dreams to choose their individual lives. High expectations surround the empathy and lingering resonance that will be delivered by the moments of facing one’s scars through love and the process of settling old relationships to embark on a solitary new departure.
Meanwhile, the third work of KBS Drama Special 2026 ‘Sound: Track’, ‘When My Loneliness Calls You’, will air on Thursday, November 26 at 10 PM, and the fourth work, ‘Bye, Summer’, will broadcast on Wednesday, December 2 at 9:50 PM on KBS 2TV.
