Former 4Minute member and actress Kwon So-hyun recently shared her new life as a corporate office worker.
On the 23rd, a video titled ‘Leaving Work | 6-Month Entertainment Office Worker Vlog’ was uploaded to Kwon So-hyun’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Kwon So-hyun revealed her busy morning routine, grabbing a cup of coffee on her way to work. She was revealed to be working as a producer (PD) at Cube Entertainment. She explained that she had to come into the office to work even on days when other employees had the day off.
After returning home from work, Kwon So-hyun explained, ‘Some people might wonder if I am still active as an actress. It has been about six months since I started working at Cube. There are two main reasons. Watching the members of LIGHTSUM, I wanted to be of even a little help to them. It is a place where you constantly compare yourself to the surrounding gazes, the recognition and love received by friends who debuted at the same time, and even compare yourself within the same group. After a period of anxiety passed, I realized that time was just too precious.’
She continued, ‘This profession constantly requires you to be chosen. Even though 4Minute was successful, I have never felt that I was successful. I lived a life with high levels of anxiety. I thought I was mediocre in every way. I felt I was not exceptionally pretty, my skills weren’t outstanding, and I wasn’t exceptionally good at dancing or singing. I thought I was just too mediocre.’
Sharing the reason behind starting her corporate career, Kwon So-hyun candidly stated, ‘I had deep, fundamental concerns: Is this job really right for me? What am I actually good at? What kind of person am I? When the company announced this project, thinking there might be a place where I could utilize myself more and feel truly alive, I thought learning production work would be a great opportunity.’
